January 2008 Business Meeting Minutes

The following DPRG officers were in attendance:

Ron Grant, President
Doug Emmes, Vice President
Martin Meier, Treasurer

Minutes of the January 15, 2008 DPRG Board of Directors Meeting

Doug will have a preliminary calender of events for 2008 by the next meeting
The officers appointed Steve Rainwater as webmaster and Kip Moravec as postmaster
Ron will contact the All-Con organizers with a proposal to do one panel on Saturday and one panel on Friday with a semi attended, automated table
The club will not have a formal electronics recycle drive, but will tell members to bring stuff for recycling to the Feb. Meeting
The officers agree to pursue holding meetings at the Warehouse
Doug will look into designing a new banner, possibly with more color
Ron will find out the costs of a new banner
Ron will create vector artwork of the current logo (angry tuxbot) for use on banners and other materials
Steve will contact graphic designers who could make a new logo for the club
The officers discussed building relationships with professors and club at UTD and UTA and decided that the club should try to do this in 2008
The club will meet at The Science Place for talent show event for better interaction with the public, but all other meetings will be at the Warehouse if possible
The officers decided that the physical mailing address will not change from its current location
The paper work to address the Suite number change for the physical address needs to be sent in during 2008
A proposal was made to hold officer meetings via IRC or other on-line chat, but not decided
The officers agreed that the club should have a presence at the Austin Makers Faire
Ron will talk to Jim Tanner about having DPRG members host workshops at Tanner's Electronics to both help Tanner's out for donating prizes and to gain publicity for the club.
