DPRG: InterNIC problems / mail bouncing

Subject: DPRG: InterNIC problems / mail bouncing

It seems InterNIC is having some sort of major problems with
the root name servers for .COM, .ORG, and .NET the last 24
hours or so. About 50% of outbound mail has been bouncing
at least once and in some cases several times. It's likely
that some dprg list subscribers will not get 100% of the
posts from the last day... The problem is mainly with really
big sites like AOL and Compuserve that can't keep stuff in
their DNS cache for long. Hopefully the problem will clear up
soon.

P.S. I don't know if it's related but AlterNIC hacked the
www.internic.net domain and redirected it to their own
page. If you point your web browser at InterNIC you now
get AlterNIC! Don't know if that's related to (or the
cause of) the problems with the root servers.
