In case you didn't know either, the definition of sintered is

sintered adj : formed into a mass by heat and pressure

No but they do dissolve. Ceramic magnets like the neonydium(sp?) ones are
made from a powdered ceramic that is sintered together. They are then clad
by either a nickel outer layer or a gold outer layer. A guy I know has gold
ones made in China to sell on his web site (www.scitoys.com). As soon as
you chip them the insides rub off like a block of graphite.
