It's not a mistake. Pin 7 is an open collector type (sink only) while
pin 3 is a totem pole configuration (source and sink). Thus pin 3 is
used to source and sink current to the timing capacitor and pin 7 is
used as an output. Both pins trigger at the same time in the 555 device.

Hello, I think that there is a mistake in "The schematic diagram for the
555 PWM Circuit:" on http://www.dprg.org/tutorials/2005-11a/ page, the
DISCHARGE pin 7 is connected to output and output pin 3 is connected to
charge and discharge circuitry.
