I ran my Sherline CNC successfully for years on a 60 Mhz Pentium laptop using TurboCNC under DOS!

I recently upgrade to EMC2 under Linux on a 1.7 GHz AMD machine when the poor old laptop gave up the ghost.

Don't tell me it can't be done :P

Glenn

As I was reading the MACH3 software website, they specifically tell us a laptop will not work because of how the OS is always lagging (don't understand why it has to be like that, BTW). It was my impression that the MACH3 software will first check whether the computer is a laptop or desktop and if it is a laptop, it will not work.

Gee, I guess I must live in the twilight zone - I've been running my
Sherline CNC mill for three years on an old Dell 1 GHz Pentium 3
laptop running Windows XP...

And yes, I run Mach3.

Later,
Jon
