What makes you sure it's male? I'm not one of the builders, so I wouldn't know...

David, Good. Let's keep the ideas flowing. Needs to roll of the tongue

So far the only one I am putting forward is:

SAM  Semi Autonomous Man

It is the name Pam would have given a son. I thought of it because she had to suffer me suffering my labor pains for the past 3.5 months on this project.
I realize it is a simple common name.

KIN is very interesting.

If the floor is open for names I'd like to suggest we call the Big Robot ...

KIN

Like the common name "Ken," short for Kenneth, but spelled with an i, as short for Kinetic.

It suggests what it actually is, as Will has opined, a "Kinetic Sculpture," and also has the nifty double meaning of "kin" as in kin to us bi-pedal hominids.

Thanks for compliments on video and robot.
If anyone sees fit, I should say leave your comments on you tube page.

I really enjoy talking to people and doing video interview type stuff. Would not mind having some better skills.
Editing is a pain, but I have to say it is getting easier. I am finding Microsoft Movie Maker pretty simple and easy to use.

Doug,

Yeah, I agree. No rush on name. Did they ever really name the Doctor on Star Trek Voyager?
Just me thinking. Maybe the "Big Robot" does not need a name?

Vincent,
I am glad you left your comment on the List ! Ha!

Nice video Ron. Robie is very impressive in person and I appreciate the work you all put into its creation. Naming rights belong to y'all.

For those who are interested in seeing Mini Maker Faire video including introduction of Big Robie, the 7 foot tall club logo robot, here is the link to DPRGclips youtube video http://youtu.be/VjhLMYhk2P0

I did my best to edit the content down a bit so you don't have to suffer though too much video. Still 16 minutes..
Leave some comments. People need to feel appreciated or disliked or whatever. Ha!
(Also, comment if there are some inaccurate captions...)

Some of the content:

* DPRG Big Robie's Premiere
* John Kuhlenschmidt shows off 3D scanner and also had his demo present of Johnny Lee's Wii remote head tracking 3D graphics system.
* Jason Henriksen's demo of new CMU Cam - 50 Frames per second blob tracker controlling camera pan and tilt
* 3D Printers including Poly Printer large format printer.
* Hans Nelson shows off Magnetic Ball Joint (super cool) and his large delta printer in production.
* The Cow Goddess and her art car.
* Mini quadricopter demo
* special bonus, if you watch to the end - Goliath

Sorry about some of the excessive camera motion. Some of the better video is probably Doug's.
I find it difficult to run a camera and talk to people at the same time.
Well, that is my excuse anyway.

Also, I know I missed out on interviewing several members.

Ron Grant
