DPRG member, Karim Virani shared his experiences building a voice and video interaction mode for his Pioneer 3 chassis-based ROS2 robot, Barney. The goal is to combine chat and command modes into a responsive unified experience for operators as well as bystanders. According to Karim, there is also a dark side …

Karim did not focus on the AI-assisted software development process so much as how to use AIs for this specific purpose. He also has a Git repository at https://github.com/pondersome/by_your_command.

DPRG Monthly Meeting – Show and Tell – July 26, 2025

The DPRG monthly meeting for July 2025 was a “Show and Tell” event. Members brought their projects and talked about robots.

It was a golden opportunity to see progress on various projects that you hear about during RBNV and on the Discord channel in person.

Pizza was served at lunch for all attendees.

Moon Day – 7/19/25

DPRG joined with Iron Reign, team 6832 from the Dallas School of Science and Engineering Magnet, and “Carbonated Potato We are Lovejoy Robotics” team 1082E from Lovejoy HS at the Frontiers of Flight Museum’s annual Moon Day event this July 19. The combined demonstrations were pretty impressive.

Note the specially designed tee shirts that Eric Chaney and John Kuhlenschmidt are wearing in this post’s featured image. Eric designed the shirt especially for Moon Day.
This event is a favorite among the members and gives DPRG an opportunity to give back to the community. Everyone had fun.
